The Lion Hotel Shrewsbury combines stunning 16th Century architecture with every classical comfort. Famous for its warm and friendly hospitality and traditional character, the hotel is perfectly situated to enable guests to enjoy all that this unique area has to offer.

With 59 bedrooms which include standard doubles, twins and singles as well as suites, each have their own unique character and include all the comfort and facilities you would expect. The Hayward Restaurant is open for lunch and dinner and offers a quintessentially British menu with a few subtle twists, using fresh local ingredients.

The Oak Bar offers a more informal dining option and is open all day for teas and coffees, homemade cakes, healthy light bites, delicious lunches and exceptional value dining. The hotel has a number of outstanding function rooms including the magnificent domed Adam Ballroom; creating a very special atmosphere for events including Weddings, Christmas Parties, Private Dining and Conferences. Privately owned since 1996 by the Matthews family, the hotel has benefited from a significant investment programme and now features 70 ensuite bedrooms including 12th century Mansion House Suites (some with a 4-poster canopy bed) 15th century Tudor Suites, three fabulous restaurants, Camellias Tearooms, garden courtyard and a fully equipped leisure suite. Valet parking is provided to our own private car park.

Dining is a real experience at The Prince Rupert Hotel with a choice of three restaurants to choose from. The oak panelled Royalist Restaurant features a superb a la carte menu focusing on locally sourced fresh seasonal produce. Understandably, the Royalist has a renowned reputation for excellent cuisine and personalised service.

Alternatively, guests may dine in Chambers, our 15th Century Tudor Bistro which serves an innovative yet English style of food in an informal setting.

Morning coffee, light lunches and afternoon tea are served in the Royalist lounge.

Camellias Tea Rooms provides a wonderful setting to relax and socialise to the sound of a grand piano with glorious views of the historic 12th century St. Alkmunds Chuch and the Tudor Bear Steps.
