14.30 – “Storytelling: What’s it all about” with Joey Cavalieri– The most important part of drawing comics is the storytelling. Yet so many new artists struggle with this essential aspect of creating a comic strip. Revered writer and editor of both Marvel and DC fame Joey Cavalieri delivers an inspiring talk on the subject of sequential storytelling. This is an essential event for any aspiring comics writer or artist or anyone who has an interest in what makes a great comic.
16.00 – 2000ad, “Past Present and Future” – Hosted by Peter Doherty – Join a star studded panel of 2000ad writers and artists from all the ears of the galaxy’s greatest comic including Robbie Morrison Dylan Teague, Phil Winslade and Barry Kitson as they discuss their fondest memories working for Tharg, their current projects and how they think the comic will evolve in the future.

12.30 – Introducing ELECTRICOMICS – with Leah Moore – Acclaimed writer digital entrepreneur Leah Moore presents a fascinating talk introducing us to the latest digital publishing platform Electricomics.
13.15 – “The Comics Conversation” – Join Joey Cavalieri in conversation with our legendary overseas guest of honour Howard Chaykin. It’s always fascinating to hear two experienced veterans of the comic industry chewing the fat and swapping anecdotes and this is guaranteed to be no exception.

14.30 – “Batman Versus Dredd” – Hosted by David Baillie. Join the Vertigo and 2000ad writer as he interviews two of the industry’s most respected writers: Our local guest of Honour John Wagner and ex Tharg and Daredevil & Green Arrow writer Andy Diggle, as he talks to them about their experiences of working, first of all here in the UK, and then crossing over to the US and which they like best.
15.45 – “Directing the Action” – Hosted by Peter Doherty – “What is the role of the artist in comics”? This is the question being posed to top comic artists Roland Boschi, Doug Braithewaite, Jimmy Broxton and John McCrea in the light of recent reports that more and more control of the storytelling and sometimes credit for the final story is being given to writers, when in fact many would argue that it is the artist who creates the final story on the page. This one is going to be a heated discussion for sure and a great way to finish of the weekend.
